Privacy Policy for AirInvite
Effective Date: January 25, 2026
Last Updated: January 25, 2026
Our Philosophy
AirInvite was built on a simple principle: your WiFi credentials and network data belong to you,
and only you.
In a world where apps collect unnecessary data and send it to remote servers, we took a different path.
AirInvite operates entirely on your device, with zero servers, zero tracking, and zero data collection.
This isn't just marketing—it's how the app is fundamentally designed.
The Short Version
- ✅ All data stays on your device (stored locally with SwiftData)
- ✅ No servers - We don't operate any backend infrastructure
- ✅ No tracking - No analytics, no telemetry, no usage data collection
- ✅ No account required - No email, no password, no login
- ✅ No third-party services - No advertising networks, no data brokers
- ✅ Optional iCloud - If you enable sync, it uses your private iCloud
(end-to-end encrypted)
We literally cannot access your data, even if we wanted to.
Information We Collect
None.
AirInvite does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers.
Information You Store Locally
When you use AirInvite, the following data is stored exclusively on your device:
WiFi Network Data
- Network names (SSIDs)
- WiFi passwords (encrypted at rest)
- Security types (WPA2, WPA3, etc.)
- Network configurations you create
- QR code design preferences
User Preferences
- App theme preferences (Light/Dark mode)
- Face ID/Touch ID security preferences
- Widget settings
- Print template preferences
- Onboarding completion status
Location: All of this data is stored locally on your iPhone/iPad using Apple's SwiftData
framework. It never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable iCloud sync (see below).
How We Use Your Data
We don't.
Because your data never reaches us, we have no ability to use, analyze, or access it.
Your data is used exclusively by the app on your device to:
- Generate QR codes for WiFi sharing
- Create printable WiFi cards
- Display network information in widgets
- Respond to Siri commands
- Sync your networks across your devices (if you enable iCloud)
Optional Features & Permissions
AirInvite requests the following permissions only when you use specific features. All
are optional.
Camera
- Purpose: To scan existing WiFi QR codes
- How it works: Uses Apple's Vision framework to perform QR code detection entirely
on-device
- Data handling: QR codes are processed locally and never saved or transmitted
- Permission: Only requested when you tap the "Scan QR Code" button
Face ID / Touch ID
- Purpose: To protect your WiFi passwords with biometric authentication
- How it works: Uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework
- Data handling: Biometric data never leaves your device's Secure Enclave
- Permission: Only requested when you enable "Require Face ID" in Settings
Siri & Shortcuts
- Purpose: To let you generate QR codes and access networks using voice commands
- How it works: App Intents processed locally by iOS
- Data handling: Voice data processed by Apple's Siri (see Apple's Privacy Policy),
but network data stays local
- Permission: Only requested when you use Siri features
iCloud Sync (Optional)
- Purpose: To sync your WiFi networks across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac
- How it works: Uses your private iCloud account with CloudKit
- Data handling: Data is end-to-end encrypted and stored in your personal iCloud
storage
- Important: Even with iCloud enabled, we cannot access your data—it
belongs to your Apple account
- Permission: Only enabled if you add the iCloud capability and sign in with your
Apple ID
Third-Party Services
We use none.
AirInvite does not integrate with:
- ❌ Analytics services (Google Analytics, Firebase, etc.)
- ❌ Crash reporting tools
- ❌ Advertising networks
- ❌ Social media platforms
- ❌ Cloud storage providers (except your optional private iCloud)
Data Sharing
We share nothing, because we have nothing to share.
Since your data never reaches our servers, there is no data for us to:
- Sell to advertisers
- Share with data brokers
- Provide to analytics companies
- Hand over to third parties
The only entity that can access your WiFi network data is you, on your
device.
Data Security
Local Storage
- All data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework with iOS's built-in encryption
- WiFi passwords are encrypted at rest on your device
- If you enable Face ID protection, access is additionally gated by biometric authentication
- App content is automatically hidden in the iOS App Switcher to prevent shoulder-surfing
Network Security
- AirInvite makes no network requests whatsoever
- All QR code generation happens locally on your device
- No authentication tokens, API keys, or personal identifiers are transmitted
iCloud (If Enabled)
- Data synced via iCloud uses Apple's end-to-end encryption
- Encryption keys are derived from your device passcode and Apple ID
- We do not have access to your iCloud data
Children's Privacy
AirInvite is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from
children.
However, because AirInvite operates entirely on-device with no data collection, there is no risk of
children's data being collected or transmitted, even if they use the app.
Age Rating: 4+ (suitable for all ages, per Apple's rating system)
Your Rights

- Delete individual networks by swiping left in the app
- Delete all data by uninstalling AirInvite from your device
- If you enabled iCloud sync, also delete AirInvite data from iCloud Settings
Export Your Data
You can export your WiFi networks by:
- Generating QR codes for each network (screenshot or share)

- Using iOS's built-in iCloud backup (if enabled)
Opt-Out of Data Collection
There is nothing to opt-out of—we don't collect data in the first place.
⚠️ Important Notice About Future Changes
Current Status: AirInvite is currently free with zero data collection, zero ads, and
zero tracking as described in this policy.
Future Possibility: If AirInvite is sold or ownership is transferred to another
party, this privacy policy and the app's data practices may change. Any new owner may implement
different data collection practices, analytics, advertising, or monetization strategies.
Your Protection: We commit to notifying all users via an in-app message before any
such transfer occurs, and the new owner will be required to publish an updated privacy policy
reflecting any changes to data practices.
Changes to This Policy
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top
- Publish the new version at https://airinvite.pbod.dev/privacy.html
- Notify users via an in-app message (for significant changes)
Because we don't collect email addresses, we cannot send email notifications about policy changes.
International Users
AirInvite is available worldwide. Since all data is stored locally on your device:
- GDPR (Europe): Fully compliant—your data never leaves your device
- CCPA (California): Fully compliant—we don't sell personal information because we
don't collect it
- France: No ANSSI encryption approval needed—uses only standard Apple encryption
Legal Basis for Data Processing (GDPR)
Under GDPR, the legal basis for processing your data is:
- Contract Performance: To provide you with WiFi sharing functionality
- Legitimate Interest: To improve app performance (all processing happens locally)
- Consent: For optional features like notifications, widgets, and Face ID
Because all processing happens on your device, you maintain full control and ownership of your data at
all times.

This privacy policy was last reviewed by a human (not generated by AI) and is designed to be both legally
compliant and genuinely understandable.
We believe privacy policies should be honest, transparent, and written in plain language—not legal jargon
designed to obscure the truth.
Summary
AirInvite in one sentence:
A privacy-first WiFi sharing app where all your data stays on your device, no servers involved, no
tracking, no data collection, period.
Privacy Promise:
We built AirInvite the way we'd want a WiFi sharing app to work—complete control, zero compromise.
